Introduction

 ============================================================

Hi, and welcome to our August 2008 newsletter.

In this issue you can read about some new resources that we have developed to make your practice or Reiki just a little bit easier. We have a new audio CD where Taggart talks you through giving a full Reiki treatment, just like he would on the day of a live Reiki course, and we have a new A5 book called “Reiki in a Nutshell” that is ideal for people who are finding out about Reiki for the first time.

We have also developed a new home study course which allows people to learn Reiki for their own personal development and stress relief, without the need to practise Reiki on other people: “Reiki for stress relief and personal growth”.

All our audio CDs are now available to download immediately as MP3 files, to play on your iPod or MP3 player straight away, and if you order all our CDs as MP3 files you will save money and receive three free gifts too.

We would like to thank those people who have given such tremendous feedback on our new Reiki leaflets CD-ROM www.reiki-evolution.co.uk/reiki-leaflets.htm. We are pleased that the leaflets are making it a lot easier for practitioners and teachers to promote their treatments and courses.

Finally, we have included details of two retreats that are coming along soon, not run by Reiki Evolution. They are in Kent at the end of August, or in Nepal in November.

>Our Goal<

Our goal is to provide high quality Reiki training courses, either through live training or home study, and to support both our students and the wider community of Reiki in its practice of Reiki. So if you visit our web site you will find a whole range of resources that you can use: everything from free Reiki articles and guides to audio CDs, CD-ROMs and MP3s, professionally-printed manuals, downloadable manuals and self-help guides, and even prints of the Reiki precepts in Japanese calligraphy. Why not visit our web site and have a good look around. We are sure you will find things of interest there.

By all means forward this e-mail to any Reiki friends you have, or anyone you know who is interested in Reiki, if you think it will be of use or of interest to them.

With best wishes to you,

Taggart and Lorraine

New Audio CD: “Talking you through a Reiki treatment”

 ============================================================

To help you feel more confident in giving a Reiki treatment we have put together an hour long audio CD where Taggart talks you through giving a full Reiki treatment, just like he would on the day of a live First Degree course. You are guided through getting started with your treatment, moving through all the hand positions, and then finishing off your treatment, with Taggart’s gentle voice over an attractive backing track that helps you to go deep as you treat.

We also include a 15 page guide to giving Reiki treatments which you can download.

This CD is suitable for people at all Reiki levels, can be given to students as part of their course, or could even be used on the day of a live course. Available worldwide.

MP3 versions of all audio CDs now available

 ============================================================

We have now made available all our audio CDs in MP3 format for you to download immediately and start using straight away, rather than waiting for a CD to arrive in the post. Download our First and Second Degree audio CDs with 60+ minutes of commentary, download our popular “Reiki Meditations” audio CD or download our new “Talking you through a Reiki treatment” CD, all at reduced prices when compared with the comparable audio CDs.

And if you download all four audio CDs as MP3s we will give you as a free gift our “getting started with Reiki” self-help guide, our “Developing your Reiki intuition” self-help guide, and a beautiful copy of the Reiki precepts drawn in Japanese calligraphy, all downloaded at the same time as your MP3s.

New handy guidebook: “Reiki in a Nutshell”

 ============================================================

For the benefit of people finding out about Reiki for the first time, we have put together a handy A5 sized guide to Reiki, explaining what Reiki is, where it comes form, what Reiki can do for you, what Reiki training entails, and how people make Reiki part of their lives. Also includes a guide to choosing a Reiki teacher.

This 90 page guide is ideal for people who are finding out about Reiki for the first time, or is perfect to give as a gift to a friend who wants to know what Reiki is all about.

New home study course: “Reiki for stress relief and personal growth”

============================================================

Our Reiki home study courses have been popular for many years now and work very well because they consist of comprehensive and practical course materials – detailed and easy-to-read manuals, audio CDs with commentary and guided meditations – and because we give our students one-to-one attention as they progress through the various practical energy projects that we have our students carry out with our guidance. Home study means working at your own speed and having almost unlimited practice time – as much as you need.

For the benefit of people who are interested in Reiki primarily for personal growth, stress relief, and personal development, rather than treating other people, or for those who for whatever reason do not have access to any people to practise Reiki on, we have put together a home study course that focuses on stress relief, spiritual growth and self-development.

This course is a shortened version of our popular First Degree home study course and you can read all about the course here:

Learn Reiki in Nepal in November

============================================================

·        Join us for two weeks of healing and nurturing in the foothills of the Himalayas

·        See the sacred sites

·        Learn about and experience indigenous healing practices

·        Qualify in Usui Reiki or Karuna Reiki®, including working with chakras, sound and mantra

The theme of this trip is healing, or wholing. As well as practising Reiki, we’ll be learning about some of the indigenous healing traditions of the Himalayas, including Ayurveda, Tibetan therapies, meditation, singing bowls, shamanism, herbal treatments, mantra, yoga, and Ancient Tibetan Reiki.

If you’re new to Reiki, or maybe did Reiki 1 or 2 a while ago and now feel you’d like to revisit it and perhaps learn some more, this trip would be ideal. There will be plenty of opportunity to revise basic knowledge and skills in a supportive atmosphere. For those who have been practising regularly and are keen to progress, there will be much here to challenge and inspire you! Tuition will be available in Usui Reiki at levels 1, 2, and Master Practitioner. Tuition in Karuna Reiki® will also be available for people already at the Master Practitioner level. Non-Reiki participants, partners and friends are also very welcome. And if anyone is dealing with stress or illness and would like to join us to receive some concentrated healing treatments, then this trip is for you!

In addition to learning Reiki, we’ll be spending some time looking at different conceptions of the energy body and chakras and how to incorporate this knowledge into our Reiki treatments. Sound vibration has been used for millennia in healing as well as in esoteric spiritual practices and we’ll be learning how to use sound with Reiki, in the form of Kotodama, toning, chanting and mantra, and maybe even with singing bowls and drumming!

In learning to facilitate the healing of others it is of central importance to be developing our own openness – an open mind and an open heart come from being engaged in our own healing process. This enables us to hold the space for others to heal. Therefore, an important part of our experience in Nepal will be doing healing on ourselves and receiving healing from others. Everyone collects “stuff” as they go through life and it is hoped that participants will find this trip provides a safe space plus whatever degree of privacy and/or support they might need for their self-healing process at this time.

-- Indicative itinerary

The trip will start in Boudha, where we’ll be introduced to the Tibetan and Nepalese cultures and their healing traditions. Over the next few days we’ll visit centres of healing to learn about and experience traditional Himalayan treatments, and learn to practise meditation Tibetan-style. We’ll also visit Pharping, a Newari town famous for its pilgrimage sites and spend some time at Nagarkot (2175 m), which has amazing views of the Himalayas. Then we return to Boudha for teachings given by the High Lama Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche and spend a couple of days at Nagi Gompa, a retreat centre and nunnery inside the Shivapuri National Park. For those who wish, there’s a short but challenging hike up to the source of the holy Bagamati River at Shivapuri Peak. From Nagi Gompa we travel out of the Kathmandu Valley to the well-known beauty spot of Pokhara. After a free day for sightseeing or adventure activities, we’ll spend a day with the Nepali Yoga Women’s Project and visit the Japanese World Peace Pagoda high above Phewa Lake and do ceremony there. On our last day we’ll visit the ancient royal city of Patan and take part in a Prajnaparamita puja and blessing at the Golden Temple.

-- About your course guide, Karen WIlliams

Healing in its different guises has been my life for many years.  I’ve worked in the NHS, with women’s groups and with young people at sea, and I’m a qualified teacher of adults. I studied eastern religion and languages at London and Kathmandu universities and have travelled in Tibet and northern India.

I’ve studied Reiki in several different lineages, including both Japanese and Western techniques, but my Master/Teacher degree is in Taggart King’s lineage. It was Taggart’s meditations and practices that enabled me to make the strong connection I now feel with Usui Sensei. This has completely changed my relationship with Reiki and healing and continues to illuminate my life in the most delightful ways. To help increase my understanding of energy I’ve also worked with several other healing modalities, including sound and transpersonal psychotherapy. These find their way into everything else I do – there are no boundaries!

And lastly, following my love of the Himalayas, I’m very excited to have attended a retreat in America recently with Tog Den Won Po Geshe Chongtul Rinpoche of Bon Shen Ling, where he initiated retreatants into an ancient, authentic lineage of Tibetan “Reiki”. I will be delighted to share some aspects of these teachings with participants on the trip to Nepal in November.

For further details please contact Karen on 01489 575279, 07801 273768, info@himalayanhealing.com, www.himalayanhealing.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
