"Having experienced Reiki 1 in a “live” one day setting elsewhere it is indeed with great gratification to comment that Taggart King’s Reiki Second Degree Distance Learning Course left me with a more comprehensive and appreciable dynamic dimension of Reiki. Rather than being limited to a one-day type of timeframe, Taggart’s course is a more in-depth process covering approximately 28 hours of material consisting of reading from a marvelously designed and informative e-book while simultaneously listening to a complimentary audio CD, and bracketed by practical energy exercises and hands-on treatment of numerous recipients; the latter was particularly helpful as I had an opportunity to work on a wide number of select people over the allotted weeks utilizing the energies of ChoKuRei and SeiHeiKi, the long distance healing symbol HanShaZeShoNen, as well as the more “intuitive” Reiji Ho techniques…indeed, this kind of opportunity working on such a wide and diverse number of people is just not possible in a one or even two-day practicum.
The e-book Second Degree Manual is a comprehensive guide that covers the nature and practical use of the three energies as well as an in-depth look at Usui’s original ideations behind both First Degree (Shoden) and Second Degree (Okuden); it is accompanied with step by step diagrams as to how to draw the three symbols (this was particularly helpful with the breakdown of the symbol HSZSN) as well as photos of numerous hand positions comprising the various energy exercises, in particular Hatsurei; also included are a vast array of energy boosting techniques. The accompanying R2 Home Study Instructions are carefully broken down into six different stages that walk you through what is required to complete each individual stage; it’s designed to work with the e-book Second Degree Manual, the audio CD, as well as easily understood step by step instructions as to how to carry out the energy exercises and hands-on treatments.
The Second Degree Audio CD beautifully complements the course and is comprised of 9 tracks that covers the symbols, distant healing, various energy boosting techniques like Scanning and Reiji Ho, as well as two wonderfully guided meditations that cover Distant Healing and the Reiki Symbols. Taggart’s soothing and comforting voice enhances each track, especially with the guided meditations that also includes contemplative background music.
The main ingredient behind the course is the presence of Taggart himself, who faithfully keeps in touch via e-mail by giving advice, encouragement, and always willing to answer any questions that may arise.
To experience Second Degree (Okuden) in this comprehensive fashion leaves one with deep and lasting insights into the workings of the Reiki energies (as was originally intended by Usui) and enhances the ability to grow spiritually as well as practically in the ever unfolding Reikian Way of benefiting self and others."

“The course is presented clearly and is easy to follow. The manual is informative and can be referred to easily throughout the course. I found the CD to be most invaluable throughout the course and after completion. Because the information is presented on different media it is accessible for reference at any time.
The home study course is particularly suitable for me because it can be scheduled in with work, other studies, home and children and hobbies. I have always wanted to invest time to gain a deeper understanding of healing – and during yet another urge to fulfil this I found your site during a web search. The home study course jumped out at me and I signed up for it. Because the web site was well structured and presented I felt that the course would be too, and it was.
When studying Reiki 1 I was aware of the time guideline given for completion, and found it to be a fair guideline for the tasks involved. The Reiki 2 course time guideline was also pretty accurate – although I was less aware of it this time around and really did go at my own pace. The most time consuming activity on the home study courses, in my experience, was organizing convenient times for the volunteer recipients and myself.
Using e-mail to send/receive feedback was useful, and the group forum quite often answers questions and provides useful information, as well as thoughtful discussion.
Overall, the home study course has provided me with the opportunity to tread a path I have always wanted to, and I have found it to be very beneficial, both to myself and others. When the time is right I would like to continue on to take the Master/Teacher home study course. The Manual and CD
The manuals for both Reiki I and II are very well put together and it’s great having so much useful information as a reference to refer to. It is also good to hear that you will be updating them and that we can download copies. I found the Reiki II CD very helpful, especially the meditation section for distant healing.
Home Study Course
What can I say, other than I found the course a brilliant way of obtaining my Reiki Second Degree Certificate. Once I got into the course and realised there was no pressure to complete in a set time, I found I really enjoyed it. I learned so much from this course and having the time to learn at the pace I needed, with all my problems, was really helpful. “Another mind-blowing experiential course. The most significant highlights for me was the first meditation with CKR and SHK symbols. So powerful each in their own way. Reiji ho was also a memorable experience. I have experimented a lot with distant healing with such positive results. It’s lovely to be able to do something for someone in need and have no barriers of distance or time.
As always, the materials were easy to follow and use and offer such a high quality by including students’ experiences and comments, it’s almost as though I was doing the course with them!

”Studying and practising your Second Degree Home Study Course has been a very interesting and challenging experience. It has greatly increased my knowledge and understanding of Reiki and the carrying out of the various prescribed exercises and treatments has produced many fascinating and, in some cases, amazing effects.
The manual is nicely written, very readable and easy to comprehend. The content is comprehensive and fortunately delineates, as far as possible, between the original teachings and practices of Mikao Usui and the changed and embroidered Western approaches. Whilst providing completeness and choice, this allows the purist to identify the essence and simplicity of Usui’s inspiration.
The audio CDs contribute a useful addition to the course. One of them gives a helpful summary of each of the subjects dealt with in the manual. The other, with its relaxing voice and suitable music, provides a beneficial experience of the prescribed meditations and of a distant healing session.
With regard to support, any questions posed by the student are dealt with promptly and satisfactorily.
All in all I would rate your First and Second Degree Home Study Courses as excellent. And I am very glad to have chosen them for my study of Reiki. I would not hesitate to recommend them.”
