At Reiki Evolution we routinely ask our students to let us have their feedback about the training and support that they receive. We have set ourselves high standards and want to make sure that our students are happy with their training, and soliciting feedback is a good way of making sure that we are on track.

"I really tried hard to find something I could constructively criticise about the Distance Learning Reiki Master/Teacher Course. I re-read the manuals and re-visited my experiences during the course and found nothing that I felt could have been bettered. Your presentation, format and materials are second to none, whilst the content is all and more that is sought by the participant.
At the beginning of stepping out on my own journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth I had hoped to find in Reiki a profound and expanding experience. Past experiences at Reiki I & II and Secheim I & II with other masters, even with 'live' tuition, however, left me feeling something was 'missing'. What was I looking for? I couldn't tell you, I hadn't had the experience to describe it. I just knew that there should be more. Still driven to seek I consequently heard of you. However, I was unable to attend your 'live' tuition, and opted for the Distance Learning method instead. And so continued the journey, but what a journey - from receiving the CDroms, CDs and DVD, and the concise and straightforward instructions I just knew that I had made the right decision. The up-to-date information regarding the history of Usui and Reiki showed me that you were in touch with recent developments. The inclusion of original Usui techniques and wisdoms showed primary source research and the importance of going back to Reiki's roots. And the references to a large network of Reiki colleagues and your research papers showed that Reiki is your life and your passion - and this was someone who I wanted to show me the way.
I had not come across some of the techniques you even teach in Reiki I, Hatsurei Ho for example, and the Self-Treatment Meditation. Wow, was there something missing previously. The meditation sections I found mind-expanding, especially focusing on the energy of the symbols and practising the same. My own experience of the Reiki energy has expanded considerably - so much so that to even write Reiki starts the energy flowing. I must say that I worked conscientiously throughout the course but felt that I would have not only let myself down, but you also. Being able to listen to your voice on the CDs was a great advantage and I felt that I had indeed been there at your teaching. Your support was as if you were by my side, encouraging and reminding. I am confident with my practice now and in my ability to show to others the way you have shown me. Knowing you are there for me in this too, takes away the fear of taking the first steps of becoming a teacher myself.
I learned a great deal from your course Taggart, I had and still have the profound and expanding experience that I had been looking for. I won't say it was easy, you must get out of it what you put in, but from the first there was committment from you, and obviously you had put in an outstanding amount of work yourself to present this course as you do. There was nothing left out, and you continually strive for more and more knowledge in Reiki as shown by your research papers and original stance.

"Course Content: I thought the course contained everything it needed to and was pitched about right. I wanted to do your course because I wanted to get back to the fundamentals of Reiki, the Japanese way. When all the course materials arrived, i did doubt that the Original Japanese methods WERE simpler, due to the number and length of the manuals that arrived and the number of exercises that were ahead of us! But my fears were unfounded, as I think the course built up well from the basics - it was useful going through the Reiki 1 and 2 manuals and exercises, for example, especially if i am ever going to teach. I felt more drawn to some areas (eg kotodamas and reiju empowerments) than I did to others (extra symbols, some of the techniques in Freeing Up Your Practice) and some things i would like to do, but i found harder, so i know that I will need to keep practicing (Reiji, for example). But then others doing the course may have been drawn to the elements that I think i will use less. What i am saying is that the course, as well as dispelling some of the myths around Western Reiki allows people to practice a very beautiful form of original Reiki AND it also provides a "toolbox" and ideas that people can use, if they wish, without feeling that you HAVE to know a lot of complicated techniques. To be honest, I think anyone would be hard pushed to structure a course that combines these elements and was better than this course!
Manuals and Audio CD/DVD: These were all excellent materials. The meditation exercises on Audio CD are definitely one of the best ways of demonstrating original Reiki - we use then a lot in our Reiki share group. Having the attunements and empowerments on CD is great for practice, as you do not have to keep craning your neck and stopping to read when you are learning - so you get a sense of the flow of these from the first time that you carry then out. I liked the clear type and conversational style of the manuals and the Audio CDs. The DVD was useful too - though i mainly used it to check if I wasn't sure exactly how to carry out a particular movement.
Support: The support was excellent. it was great to be able to email thoughts and questions and know that I would get an honest reply , some positive feedback and some pointers to improve my practice. I don't know how you manage this, considering the number of students you have and all the other things that you develop! I think that the structured approach to the distant learning course, with feedback at each stage is so beneficial, compared to learning everything in a weekend and then only approaching the Reiki Master if you are struggling with something.
Exercises: The exercises were great. Most people learn by doing rather than reading or listening and I feel that the exercises helped me to build up my confidence. It also shifts the learning from "remembering" to "experiencing" which means that, although I am sure that there are bits of the course that i will need to revisit, I know that I have "experienced" all of it, so it is there in me, if you see what I mean.
Did the course help me to achieve what i wanted: All I can say is, so far, so good! I am really pleased that I did the course. The course has exceeded my expectations, I feel that I have learnt some really fundamental things about energy work that give me confidence to apply the learning myself. I think some of the elements of the original methods - particularly Reiju empowerments, kotodama, aand the concept of Earth energy and Heavenly energy are so beautiful and simple that they take my understanding of Reiki to a higher, more spiritual level - and I am quite an "earthly" person, so I didn't expect that! "Course Content:The course was very extensive and informative. As we were taken through each stage, on the whole very clearly, at no time did I feel that I didn't understand what I was meant to do because I could always go back over things at my own pace and work on aspects that I did feel a little unsure about. Generally, there was not anything that was a major problem. For me, and other disabled people, it is very important that when embarking on a course or workshop, that the tutor grasps that we are individuals and have different methods of learning and receiving information and that the course should be flexible to accomodate this.
Manual and Audio CD/DVD: I loved having the CDs with the step by step instructions and how to carry out the exercises and, particularly the attunements/ empowerments. It is great to have that opportunity to do things independently. That, in itself, is a very empowering thing for me and really gave me a lot of confidence that i previously didn't have. That is just how it should be, removing barriers so that people can participate and be able to reach their full potential.
Support: Its good that we maintained a regular contact. Some Reiki masters that i have worked with have been rather elusive, shall we say, after we have paid our money and done the initial course. This has left me feeling frustrated and abandoned to my own devices and wondering what do I do next? Where do i go? Your gentle encouragement, with direct advice if you felt that I had done something incorrectly, was pitched well. At no time did I feel ticked off or dismissed.
Exercises: I very much enjoyed carrying out the exercises. All the exercises helped put theory into practice. Again, I can only say that this certainly helps build confidence.
Did the course help me to achieve what I wanted? It certainly did. Whenever I have participated in courses, workshops etc, it has never been on an equal basis. Partly because there is never enough time to work with me on a one-to-one level and the person running the workshop has not had the skills to teach me in the way that I need to be taught. This could be due to embarrasment on their part and also not wanting to hold things up for other people. This is a barrier to learning. Doing the distance learning course has meant that I have been taught on the same basis as my peer group. Again, an empowering experience. Although it has taken Lucy and I perhaps a while longer than most course participants this has mainly been due to meeting my access needs. I have enjoyed the entire course, I would certainly recommend it to other people. You are a very skilled person, very committed and, most of all, you have a very good way of simplifying things that seem very complicated. Thank you for passing on your knowledge. And thank you Mikao Usui! I love reiki - it is a very big part of my life. By the way - the egroups seem fantastic so far - there are some very sensible and sound people there, I think we will learn even more from some of those people.

"Below are my notes and thoughts on the course.
CD
These are excellent, useful little reminders of the main points at each stage of the course. Playing these a few times helped to get the main points fixed in the mind. Because most of the speech content is in ‘small chunks’ I was able to listen to these fairly frequently. Perhaps the most important role was in helping to confirm pronunciations – especially useful when it came to the kotodama. I also found the guided meditations very useful in the early stages – although after awhile I moved on to doing the meditations without the guidance as I felt confident enough to do so. I do still occasionally use the guided meditations as I find the background music in each case really suits the specific meditation.
Manuals
To describe these as comprehensive would be an understatement. Anything and everything you need to know about Reiki is contained within these! I found these immensely useful – I still do, and I still find them interesting to read through and look at again. They are well organized, presented, and written. My interest is primarily in the original system of Mikao Usui, but it was interesting to see what other people had experienced and discovered in reiki. If we let dogma and doctrine into reiki then it would be no longer reiki. The fact that in the manuals you was not frightened to express an opinion, but managed to avoid sitting in judgement was very well done – and is very difficult to do well. I was particularly enthralled by the updates to the ‘original’ manuals you e-mailed to me. A fascinating and inspirational read.
DVD
I found this really useful. The DVD was very well set out, very easy to work to – a bit like Reiju, simple but powerful. I particularly liked the fact that the two women showing us the Reiju routine did it slightly differently which I thought caught your course theme superbly. It is our intuition and intent which is the key to successfully working with Ki.
Feedback
Excellent. Very personal, very inspiring, and always encouraging. You are a natural! Okay I had to wait a few times for the feedback, but if I hadn’t set out to do a ‘war and peace’ job on my feedback I would have got a quicker response. The feedback was always welcome, and always useful.
Overall
Okay I am repeating myself, but the progress I made on your course far outweighed the progress I made with Reiki in the previous five years. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, I had fun, and it was everything I had hoped for. At the end of the course I have found it very easy to keep reiki as part of my daily life. Usually you find that by doing a course by distance, that feel you lose out a little compared to doing the course live. Actually in this case I think the reverse could be true. I can understand how ‘western style reiki could be taught live, but I feel that the original teachings of reiki do lend themselves better to distance learning. I know I fully committed to doing the course, and I did surprise myself at the time I spent on a daily basis on the course – but it never felt like hard work. I spent far more hours than you said, but that was down to me and not your estimate being out! I took one day off during the course to allow the energies and lessons to sink in, but other than that I just got on with it.
A final bit
It feels far to short this! I think if anybody wants to learn Reiki they cannot go wrong with your course. What you have put together is an amazing achievement."

“The home study approach is an excellent idea. It allows you to study at your own pace and in your own way. It’s easier to take on board new ideas and absorb them over time. I have so appreciated doing the Reiki Master course over a period of time. I feel as though I have learned so much more than I would over two days – especially as I have a very demanding job.
Although at times it has been hard fitting all the exercises in, and I have taken much longer than I thought I would, it has been very helpful to me in trying to assimilate all the new information and techniques that this course covers. Ever since doing one of your original Usui courses about three years ago, I knew I wanted to train with you as I completely identified with the original Japanese Reiki as opposed to the Westernised version.

“My feedback for the home study Reiki Master Teacher course can be summed up in one word – ‘excellent’!
The course content is most interesting and comprehensive and put over well. The presentation is extremely good. The use of the written manual, the CDs and DVD make it very easy to take in and understand. As I read along I can hear your voice from the CDs running alongside, reinforcing what I read. With regard to the CDs I was at first a bit dubious. I have listened to other audio media before and found the voices can be a bit distracting but fortunately you have a very pleasant speaking voice and tone, with a relaxed and easy way of putting things across.
There is a lot to take in but the home study course format really comes into its own here… taking nearly three months to work through the course, practising the exercises daily, means that I have had plenty of time to take everything on board, and to make it a habit in my life. It’s almost been an osmotic experience – by having practically lived and breathed Reiki all this time I now feel confident in my knowledge and use of it, and in putting it over to others. “I decided to do the Master Course after completing the ‘Original Usui’ course with Taggart. I was already a Reiki Master/Teacher but wanted my teaching to remain true to Usui’s original intent.

“Content: A far more in-depth course than any other Reiki course I’ve done, including my first “Master” course. The sheer breadth or learning, techniques and meditations was remarkable and it is difficult to imagine any ‘lack’ of content. The course satisfied my intense desire for knowledge and experiential learning.
Presentation: the stage-by-stage presentation of the course worked well and I felt that the ‘flow’ of knowledge was coherent. Highly professional but still approachable: quite a difficult balance to achieve. Learning by listening, reading at one’s own pace, was invaluable. Step-by-step feedback was invaluable too. Being able to take the time to think about my reports to you, keeping a daily diary of my experiences added a deeper level for me. I feel that my foundations are solid.
The Manual: Simply excellent. Your thoughtful approach, the easy informal style made the reading and re-reading a pleasure rather than a chore. I have searched and read so many books on Reiki to find the truth – it is all here and waiting for everyone. The various photo sequences were excellent. I continue to refer to the manual and continue to learn from it.
The CDs: Firstly, what a pleasure it is to listen to your voice – quite different to many others out there. The exercises/meditations on the CDs are perfect, as I can follow their timing rather than getting lost in time and space! We all have busy lives to lead on our journey and following these meditations quite simply means that I actually do do them daily. It is also nice to just relax and listen to the knowledge and I can do that anytime, anywhere to suit my needs. It is a wonderfully layered approach to learning. As with the manual, I continue to listen to the CD even now the course is complete.
DVD: Quite the most superb relief to have this tool! It is the icing on the cake to be able to see, as many times as necessary, the steps, the flow of the attunements and empowerments, and is the answer to every new RMT’s prayers!

”To start with I was unsure whether a home study course would be as beneficial as attending a course in person. But this course has more than exceeded my expectations. The manual is so comprehensive and easy to read, it’s more of a pleasure to read rather than a course manual. Along with the CDs it is very easy to work through and follow the detailed instructions for each section. I liked being able to report back after each section and awaiting Taggart’s quick e-mail response. ”I have found in Reiki something that has been missing from my life. Although I was taught Ki healing many years ago by my Japanese Martial Arts teacher, and Shiatsu from a Malaysian Master Teacher, both of which I have used quite successfully at my sports injuries clinic, I have always felt I had a void in my knowledge of alternative treatments, and kept looking for something that felt right for me.
Searching the ‘Net one day your Reiki Evolution site seemed to jump out at me, and having spoken to you I knew instinctively that I wanted to proceed with your organisation.
Right from your first level one manual I felt at ease with your teachings and knowledge, level two followed and I was now convinced I had found what I believed had been missing. I have commented to you previously how many things in Reiki seemed closely linked to the Martial Art of Aikido, this all made sense when I read that Master Usui and the founder of Aikido, Master Ueshiba, trained together.
All documents, CDs and DVD arrived for the Master course (Shinpiden). I was very impressed with the materials, and began right away to study it. Without a doubt some of what I needed to learn and understand stretched me and required quite an effort to get to grips with, but the way the manual is set out, together with the CDs and the feedback required by you, slowly built up my knowledge, and I began to understand some of the theory behind the exercises.
I have now made Reiki part of my life and my wife also joins in. It has been a huge help with the work I do at the local drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre. The classes involving meditation and relaxation are a great success and I am sure all the patients benefit from the Reiki energies channelled by intent from me.
I am aware that it will take many years (like martial arts) to fully understand what is described as the art of Reiki, but practice is something that I am dedicated to and the passage of time is no hardship to me.

“This course was amazing – in depth, explicit and diverse. Extremely well supported by the written word, audio, visuals and e-mail.It was a pleasure to recap Reiki I and II again prior to the Master levels as there was so much that I was totally unaware of. I had never heard of Kotodama, Reiji ho or Reiju. In three years of being a Reiki practitioner I had developed the use of “intent and intuition” to a degree but realized that my abilities were a long way off the standards that I later achieved during the course. My confidence increased daily as did the energy, and my loyal friends and clients who participated in my trials (“freestyle practice”) were extremely impressed as well as surprised. "I am so glad I did this the distance learning method. I have completed so much energy work compared to my peers that will have attended the live reiki courses. This is by no means disrespectful to them, people learn in different ways but I have so much confidence in what I am doing because I have explored so many areas and had the time and freedom to experiment and all with support from you.
