Your Inner Compass: How to Truly Trust Your Reiki Intuition in Daily Life

Let’s be honest, when you first started your Reiki journey, did you ever secretly wonder if intuition was just for those “gifted” few? Perhaps you thought it was something you might, just might, develop after years of diligent practice, if you were lucky. Maybe you imagined it as a sudden, blinding flash of insight, gone before you could grasp it. If so, you’re not alone. It’s a common misconception, but I’m here to tell you something fundamental: you are intuitive. Every single one of us is. Without a shadow of a doubt.

The truth is, those intuitive messages – that subtle inner knowing, that gentle pull, that fleeting image or word – they’ve always been there. Your body and mind are constantly sending them. The real problem isn’t a lack of intuition; it’s often our own conscious mind, sitting there like a great big lump, getting in the way. We overthink, we second-guess, we try too hard, and we inadvertently block the very flow of wisdom that’s trying to reach us.

This brings us to the very heart of authentic Japanese-style Reiki, and indeed, the core of what we teach at Reiki Evolution: the art of getting your mind out of the way. It’s not about forcing, striving, or intellectualizing. In fact, the harder you try to be intuitive, the less likely it is to happen. Intuition, much like the Reiki energy itself, works best when you simply allow it. It’s about merging with the energy, emptying your head, and letting it happen. Bruce Lee, that master of fluidity, famously said, “Be formless, shapeless… like water.” This isn’t just martial arts wisdom; it’s profound advice for your Reiki practice. When you are empty and formless, the energy flows, and your intuition guides.

So, how do we cultivate this effortless flow? One of the most empowering ways is through a simple yet profound Japanese technique called Reiji Ho, or the “indication of the spirit technique.” This isn’t some complex ritual; it’s a method of allowing the energy to guide your hands, almost as if they’re being pulled by invisible magnets to precisely where they need to be. It works for almost everyone, often within minutes of trying it. The key? Not doing, not thinking, not trying – just being there with the energy, allowing it to lead. This intuitive approach means you can leave behind rigid hand positions and prescribed timings, tailoring every session to the unique, ever-changing needs of the recipient.

But this isn’t just about treating others. Your inner compass is equally vital in your daily life and self-practice. Remember, “where thought goes, energy flows.” When you’re doing a self-treatment, instead of rigidly following a set sequence, allow your attention to be drawn to areas that need it most. You can even send distant healing by simply focusing your intent, knowing that the energy will follow your thoughts, regardless of physical proximity or complex rituals. Your intent is the powerful driving force, far more potent than any external rule or elaborate visualization.

So, let’s liberate your intuition from the shackles of doubt and overthinking. You don’t need to be perfect; you just need to trust. If you feel a subtle pull, an inner knowing, or a quiet impression, accept it. Don’t second-guess yourself, don’t worry if it makes “sense,” and certainly don’t dismiss it as “just your imagination.” That is your intuition speaking. Embrace that lovely, merged, mindful state you experience when working with Reiki, and allow it to permeate every aspect of your life.

Your inner compass is always active, always guiding. It’s time to truly listen.

Over to you: What’s one small way you can practice trusting your intuition more today, whether in your Reiki practice or daily life?
